McLaren Vale Medal Winners
McLaren Vale is a picturesque, historic and diverse wine region. More than a hundred wineries produce wines from a host of grape varieties including Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, Sangiovese, Tempranillo, Mourvèdre, Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Savagnin and Fiano. This diversity reflects variations in climate and soil type, as well as a regional characteristic of continued development.
Winemaker Scott Heidrich has made this wine in a fresh aromatic style, completely un-oaked. “It looks a bit like a Sauvignon Blanc on the nose and a Chardonnay on the palate,” he says. Aromas of orange peel and fresh lime are followed by a mouth-filling palate of melon and apricot that are complemented by zesty acidity and a clean finish.
