Our society

The Wine Society was established in 1946, when Dr Gilbert Phillips and a group of wine loving friends shared a collective vision and passion to purchase and distribute Australian table wine. Over 60 years on, and now with over 55,000 Members Australia-wide, this vision continues.

Our philosophy

How do we achieve our philosophy?

To achieve our philosophy, our Members receive regular communication from The Wine Society and are invited to participate in numerous Society initiatives.

  • Regular e-catalogue

    Our Members not only receive a regular Wine Society e-catalogue full of some of the best wine offers in the country, but they will be told about our popular Events and Education program and be kept up to date with interesting facts in the quarterly Society News newsletter.

  • The Society′s own label wines

    The Wine Society's own label is an affordable range of superb tasting wines, ensuring consistent quality and value. These wines are the result of our buying department working with some of the best winemakers, together developing exclusive wines for Members.

  • Regular tasting dozens

    Members have the opportunity to join over 20,000 other Wine Society Members who currently take advantage of our Regular Tasting Dozen programs. These programs are designed to deliver a great selection of wines to you without you having to lift a finger - the ultimate convenience!

  • Society retail stores

    Members who live in, or are visiting Sydney or Melbourne, have the opportunity to pop into one of our Wine Society Cellars. Not only will they be able to browse our extensive selection of wines, but there is a good chance that they will be visiting just in time for one of our regular Cellar Tastings.

  • Website and email

    Over 20,000 Society Members receive regular emails, including exclusive wine offers, tasting invitations and reminders of special Wine Society Events. Your email address is also your login to purchase on our website and to access the Members Only section.

  • Wine advisors

    We are always on the look out for the best wine offers we can find. Sometimes we can′t wait until the next magazine goes to print, so we will call you occasionaly to inform you of such deals. You′ll love what we have to offer.
