How do you like your wines … big, bold and flavour packed or refined and elegant? With Tokar Estate, you get the best of both worlds. These are gutsy wines with bold and distinctive flavours but they retain the precision and delicacy for which the Yarra Valley is known. Our pick is the Tempranillo, a dense and brooding red that will sing alongside char grilled meat dishes, but you can’t go wrong wherever you look in this stellar line up.
Why we love Tokar Estate
• A fabulous estate vineyard in the heart of the Yarra Valley
• Hands off winemaking that allows vineyard and vine to shine
• Bold flavours in an elegant style
"Firm, fruit-filled, kissed with classy oak and then savoury to close. An excellent example of Australian tempranillo. Cherry, cola, cloves and an array of dried spices. Good depth of fruit; nothing wimpy about this. A bit of grunt to the tannin too. It pushes the ripeness envelop – and carries some warmth as a result – but just stops short of overdoing it." “Medium bodied, creamy cashew and juicy white fruits, flinty struck match complexity, and a red grapefruit and toasty finish of good length. Ready to go now, I’d say.” Gary Walsh

"Herb and spice notes sit deep within a pool of cherry, plum and clove. This velvety red pours on the charm, the fruit and spice characters married quite perfectly. Flavour and style are excellent. The only detraction is the warmth of the finish, though it’s by no means fatal. It’s a very good example of Yarra Valley shiraz." Campbell Mattinson

Delicacy and structure combined in the way only a good Pinot can. Intoxicating cherry and smoked meat aromas lead to cranberry tartness on the palate and plentiful fine tannins.
