"Originally released as Shiraz Mataro (an alternate name for Mourvèdre) and inspired by the legendary Max Schubert, the grapes for Bin 2 are sourced from a number of warmer region South Australian vineyards. Max wanted to produce a style different to the Barossa and McLaren Vale heavily oaked blockbusters, so this easy-drinking medium bodied style was produced to complement the growing Penfolds Bin range. This attractively priced wine has lots of fruit flavour and soft tannins with good length on the finish and is a “must-have” for lovers of Penfolds reds."

Excellent length of flavour and a fresh, lingering acidity. Darker fruit flavours and notes of olive, liquorice and fennel sit alongside background nutty flavours of well-used,older oak. The finish shows some firm, gritty-type tannins.
