I have always been a fan of Zonte’s Footstep. First, they consistently deliver wines of personality and quality - you only have to look at their string of gold medals to know the quality is outstanding. Second, the wines are incredible value for money for only $21.99 per bottle and $19.99 in a straight dozen. And finally, they are simply delicious to drink.
Zonte’s is an independent wine company made up of wine professionals who share a passion for producing (and drinking) great wines. Brad Rey is at the helm of the winemaking team and carefully selects premium fruit from vineyards across South Australia to ensure each wine has a true sense of a place and purpose.
As for the wines themselves, they’re bright, juicy, loaded with flavour and personality. I honestly think they would make fantastic wines at your next barbeque or poolside gathering. My pick is The Violet Beauregard Malbec, it smells like blueberry, tastes like a blueberry pie but it's also loaded with lovely violet and mint characters - delicious!
Sabine Duval, Senior Wine Buyer
Blueberry aromas with classic Malbec mulberry, red cherries and notes
of cedar and wafts of violets, and just a hint of fresh baked pastry. The palate is rich and generous with Damson plum characters, supported by gentle tannins and soft, fresh acidity. Winery Note.

'The mid-palate scrapes through by the skin of its teeth, but the finish is convincing and there’s a real sense of structural integrity to this. It feels sturdy. It tastes of blackcurrant, cloves, toast and gum leaves and while it takes time to built momentum and volume it gets there in the end.' James Halliday

Inviting aromas of cassis, dark cherries and licorice smells with undertones of cedar, dark chocolate & clotted cream. The palate brings juicy fresh berry tart-sweetness, tempered with some chewy but typical Cabernet tannin, leading to enticing cigar box and plush fruit flavours with a lingering finish. Winery Note

'Sangiovese (75%) dominates the blend, lagrein only contributing 5%. It’s matured in all (used) French oak. It’s more powerful than the blend varieties might imply, its sweet berried fruit flavours tending to the dark side, its spice notes beating the woodsy drums. Assertive tannin continues the robust theme.' James Halliday
