Cabernet Sauvignon’s spiritual home, and perhaps its true origin, is in Bordeaux, where it tends to be blended with other varieties such as Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Australian Cab Savs are commonly made as single varietal wines, with Coonawarra and Margaret River heading most wine lovers’ lists of Cabernet regions.
This wine exhibits pronounced notes of blackcurrant and cedar alongside savoury herbal notes. The palate offers fleshy dark fruits and fresh acidity, which is integrated with a sweet clip of new oak. Length is excellent.

"Juiciness and almost jelly-like quality of small berried Cabernet fruits, aniseed, cedar, violet and a smattering of sweet herb. Medium bodied, straight down the line acidity and fleshy minerally silty tannin, lovely mouth-perfume, crisp and long, with a precise and refreshing ripe raspberry laced finish. Delicious. Will improve. Also, a bargain." Gary Walsh

Yarra Valley Cabernet … wait, what? Until the fashion for Pinot took hold, the Yarra was renowned for its finely structured Cabernets and this is as good an example as you will find. Classic pencil shavings and tobacco meet chocolate and berries, wrapped in firm but approachable tannins. A brilliant release.
