One of the most widely planted grapes in the world, Grenache thrives in the hot dry climates of France’s Rhône Valley and in Spain, where it is known as Garnacha. Unsurprisingly, it has also proved a success in Australia’s warmer wine regions. It is often blended with Shiraz and Mourvèdre to make robust ‘Rhône blend’ wines.
"It is instantly appealing on the nose showing Black Doris plum, cranberry, thyme and cocoa characters with nuances of vanilla and almond. The palate delivers terrific fruit richness and intensity, while remaining balanced and structured with plenty of silky tannins. Generous, flavoursome and engaging. At its best: 2019 to 2026." “Unapologetically ripe and rich. Grenache does this style like no other variety and this wine is an impossible complex medley of spice and warm herbs (think Rosemary, Thyme, oregano …) and with a lift that’s almost indecent. Perfectly in balance, all these characteristics follow through to the palate that finishes like silk. Seamless, long, soft and lush. Again, it’s Grenache in all its glory and like no other” Ben Jeanneret, Winemaker
