Pinot Noir is best known for the light- to medium-bodied reds of regions such as Burgundy and Central Otago (and, in Australia, Tasmania and Adelaide Hills). It also forms part of the classic Champagne blend and is a key contributor to many of the best sparklings. Pinot makes excellent rosés too, with the variety’s delicate charms perfectly suiting this lighter style.
This is the fifth vintage of Mike’s new Pinot Noir using grapes grown from the 777 clone. The grape bunches are thinned three times during the growing season to maximise intensity of the fruit flavour. The wine is matured in French oak and receives minimal filtration. The nose is floral with slight earthy overtones. The high altitude of the single vineyard is captured in the elegant palate.

"Medium to full red to brick-red colour with the merest trace of purple remaining. The bouquet is shy and gently smoky, with forward-developed aromas and a kiss of oak, but it comes into its own in the mouth. The wine has complexity and charm; soft, fine-grained tannins and gentle texture. There is amplitude and generosity of flavour and it is quite complex. An entertaining pinot that already drinks well." Halliday Wine Companion
