Shiraz is Australia’s favourite variety, and its big, bold and full-bodied reds from regions such as the Barossa Valley have helped put Australia on the world wine map. Its spiritual home though is France’s Rhône Valley, where it is known as Syrah and produces wines typically lighter in body and alcohol. Sometimes Australian Shiraz is labelled as Syrah to indicate its specific style.
"Hand-picked, co-fermented with 2% viognier, no whole bunches this vintage, matured in French puncheons (25% new) for 15 months. An interesting follow-on to the '15, the latter giving rise to many very good wines. The '16 takes its time in asserting its character and quality, which it does so handsomely on the back-palate and finish. Here spicy, savoury notes are allied with terrific tannins, fine, yet persistent." Halliday Wine Companion

"A very full-bodied, powerful rendition of Adelaide Hills shiraz, with depth and structure aplenty. Lots of chew as well. A big, solid, dense wine, which avoids excessive oakiness. Dark and red fruits are apparent, and there is only a hint of the mint that dominated the famous 2013 vintage." Huon Hooke
