Shiraz is Australia’s favourite variety, and its big, bold and full-bodied reds from regions such as the Barossa Valley have helped put Australia on the world wine map. Its spiritual home though is France’s Rhône Valley, where it is known as Syrah and produces wines typically lighter in body and alcohol. Sometimes Australian Shiraz is labelled as Syrah to indicate its specific style.
“Ripe dark fruits and plum aromas lead to a velvety smooth palate with flavours of plums, blackberries and vanilla. Soft tannins create good structure before a sensational long lingering finish. An archetypal Coonawarra Shiraz that’s a firm Society favourite” Malcolm Bates, Personal Wine Advisor
