Shiraz is Australia’s favourite variety, and its big, bold and full-bodied reds from regions such as the Barossa Valley have helped put Australia on the world wine map. Its spiritual home though is France’s Rhône Valley, where it is known as Syrah and produces wines typically lighter in body and alcohol. Sometimes Australian Shiraz is labelled as Syrah to indicate its specific style.
Deep crimson purple in colour, the aromas are youthful and intense with spice and a hint of black pepper. The palate is layered with blackberry and integrated oak while the tannin structure is balanced and elegant.
