Shiraz is Australia’s favourite variety, and its big, bold and full-bodied reds from regions such as the Barossa Valley have helped put Australia on the world wine map. Its spiritual home though is France’s Rhône Valley, where it is known as Syrah and produces wines typically lighter in body and alcohol. Sometimes Australian Shiraz is labelled as Syrah to indicate its specific style.
Red and purple fruit aromas, coupled with pepper spice and chocolate/mocha oak. The medium-bodied palate shows concentrated black fruits with a lovely savoury earthiness, leading to a long, elegant finish. Highly Commended.
