Shiraz is Australia’s favourite variety, and its big, bold and full-bodied reds from regions such as the Barossa Valley have helped put Australia on the world wine map. Its spiritual home though is France’s Rhône Valley, where it is known as Syrah and produces wines typically lighter in body and alcohol. Sometimes Australian Shiraz is labelled as Syrah to indicate its specific style.

"Deep colour; a very complex shiraz, in terms of flavour and structure; oak plays a significant role in the mocha/dark chocolate/spice components, but the purple and black fruits are more than a match, assisted by tannins in creating the stimulating texture on the back-palate and finish." "Estate-grown, matured in French oak for 17 months. Excellent colour; cigar box/cedary oak is the first out of the blocks on a medium-bodied palate; the fruit is relatively delicate, but its red berries are inviting, as are the freshness and length of the palate." Halliday Wine Companion
