Chardonnay is one of the world’s most popular grape varieties; originally from France’s Burgundy region, today it is planted almost anywhere that wine is produced. Chardonnay has a relatively neutral flavour profile, which allows winemakers to use a variety of skills and techniques to create a wide range of styles from taut and linear to rich and buttery.
The Ninth Island Chardonnay showcases cool-climate vineyard sites of Pipers Brook and Strathlyn in the North of Tasmania. Aromas are of white blossom, light peach, subtle honeysuckle and green tea, while flavours are of white stone fruit and citrus with hints of lychee. There is enticing acidity and a white quartz-like minerality.
