Pinot Grigio’s spiritual home is Europe. France’s Alsace region (where it is known as Pinot Gris) produces delicious textured wines and in Italy it is a true superstar. Italian Pinot Grigios tend to be light-bodied and lean wines with great acidity and crisp citrus fruit flavours. It is an increasingly popular variety in Australia; here, whether it is labelled Gris or Grigio is often an indicator of style.
"What a terrific pinot gris with its pale copper hue, crunchy fresh, and poached, pears flecked with powdered ginger, vanilla and cardamom. Loads of creamy texture and lemon curd but sprightly acidity keeps it buoyant given the complexity and depth of flavour." Halliday Wine Companion

"Nashi pear, some spice and perfume, maybe something like brittle toffee? Juicy and plump, fine balance, creamy, a spread of ultra-fine powdery tannin keeps it trim, and there’s some other other stuff going on, not least a long finish with a hint of bitterness, yet never mind all that really: richness, with freshness, structure, and flavour is the import. So bloody good to drink." Gary Walsh

Light golden in the glass, the nose an array of cloves, pear, marzipan, honey dew and orange zest. A substantial and powerful palate, initially smooth rounded stone-fruit, progressing to a core of chalky phenolic, expanding into a very long pure finish.

A richer, riper style of Gris, with spiced pear and oak notes on the nose, and a subtle lactic character. The palate is rich and textural, with a lovely creamy mouthfeel and hints of apricot biscotti. The finish is long and elegant. Definitely a food wine. Highly Recommended.

Lifted aromas of pear, apple and peach with subtle nutty and brioche characters. The palate is full-flavoured with generous layers of fruit and spice balanced by refreshing citrusy acidity with long length of the finish. An elegant and textural Pinot Gris to enjoy now.
