Riesling probably has its origins in Germany, on the banks of the Rhine and Mosel rivers, where it has been cultivated at least as far back as 1435. Alsace in north eastern France is Riesling’s other traditional home. Today, Australia can lay claim to some of the finest Rieslings in the world, with the Clare Valley, Eden Valley and Tasmania earning particular global acclaim.
Scents of lemon, lime and apple leap from the glass and follow on to a sherbet-laden palate. The acidity is tangy but in check, and contributes to a clean mouthfeel and a long finish.
