Riesling probably has its origins in Germany, on the banks of the Rhine and Mosel rivers, where it has been cultivated at least as far back as 1435. Alsace in north eastern France is Riesling’s other traditional home. Today, Australia can lay claim to some of the finest Rieslings in the world, with the Clare Valley, Eden Valley and Tasmania earning particular global acclaim.
Phil Lehmann (St John’s Road winemaker) and John Vickery are in partnership to produce the Vickery Rieslings and so it’s no coincidence that this wine is very nice indeed! An excellent example of for what Watervale is famous, Riesling! It has intensely varietal fragrant aromas of ripe lime and orange blossom which appear to jump from the glass. The palate is rich and ripe with an exceptional depth of flavour supported by lively acidity which contributes to the overall balance and length.

'Hand-picked, free-run juice cold-settled. The bouquet wastes no time in establishing the region, variety and quality of this single vineyard, multi-block riesling. The floral bouquet leads into a palate of striking intensity, texture and structure, lime and lemon both claiming ascendancy, neither winning.' James Halliday
