On its own or as part of a blend, Sauvignon Blanc is fully established as one of the most popular grape varieties of all. As a single varietal wine its spiritual home is France’s Loire Valley, but it is in New Zealand’s Marlborough region that it has become a global phenomenon. In Bordeaux, it is traditionally blended with Semillon, a style that has been emulated with great success in Western Australia.
Think Sauvignon Blanc is simple? This Sancerre is anything but: it’s complex, restrained, tightly wound and mineral. It’s magnificent.
