This three-way blend seamlessly comprises 50% Marsanne, 45% Viognier and 5% Roussanne. It’s textural, balanced and fresh, with honeysuckle, apricot and fleshy stone fruit complemented by subtle spice and a clean line of citrus acidity. The flavours work effortlessly in harmony to create a very satisfying drop.

Winemaker Scott Heidrich has made this wine in a fresh aromatic style, completely un-oaked. “It looks a bit like a Sauvignon Blanc on the nose and a Chardonnay on the palate,” he says. Aromas of orange peel and fresh lime are followed by a mouth-filling palate of melon and apricot that are complemented by zesty acidity and a clean finish.

Grapes for this Vermentino were carefully selected from a single family-owned vineyard in the Adelaide Hills, under the direction of fifth generation Barossa winemaker Neville Falkenberg. Delicate varietal aromas of grapefruit, lime and lychee are complemented by a crisp palate of Nashi pear with hints of ginger and exotic spice.

Heady with varietal apricot, ginger and spice but with none of the oiliness that can hold Viognier back. If you only try one Viognier this year, make it this one.
