Exclusive and Unique Wines
The history, the unmistakable style, perhaps the sense of occasion it delivers – there are many reasons to choose Champagne. Mine? It’s just so damned delicious. Great sparkling wine is made worldwide but the balance of elegance, complexity and chalky minerality that typifies Champagne keeps it, in my view, above its competitors.
We’re celebrating the grandes marques – prestigious Champagne houses that have elevated the region to the top of the tree. As recognisable as they are exquisite, these wines are perfect as gifts and for celebrations. Better still, simply savour and contemplate them with loved ones. Enjoy.
Jacquart Brut Mosaïque NV
Young and forward looking, Jacquart winemaker Floriane Eznack shows a different side to Champagne. In a region dripping in history, Jacquart’s own 50 years are just a blink of the eye, but a bright, fresh attitude is reflected here in a contemporary Champagne of pure, clean elegance.
Taittinger Brut Reserve NV
The quality of Taittinger’s wines has been on the up in recent years and this Brut Reserve – with its characters of peach, white flowers, brioche and toast – is a study in balance and delicacy. A blend of Chardonnay (40%), Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier (60%).
Moët & Chandon Brut Impérial NV
A go-to wine for celebrations around the world, Moët is typically bright, fresh and imbued with a delightfully easy elegance. Lemon zest and apple notes are enhanced by toasty complexity and a delicate mousse. Moët Impérial is a classic – arguably the classic.
Moët & Chandon Grand Vintage 2008
Vintage 2008 looks set to go down as one of Champagne’s great years, and Moët & Chandon has taken full advantage of the stellar growing conditions with this lively wine. Taut, linear acidity is enveloped by succulent white fruits and citrus. Vibrant and delicious.
Veuve Clicquot Brut Yellow Label NV
Golden in colour, this wine offers aromas of peach and pear with notes of vanilla and brioche. Pinot Noir provides the core structure, while a touch of Pinot Meunier rounds out the blend, with Chardonnay adding finesse. A perfect balance of power and elegance.
Dom Pérignon Vintage 2006
bold and ripe expression of this legendary wine. Floral and tropical fruit characters on the nose mingle with gunpowder and toast. The palate is intense and vivacious, unfurling with creaminess, complexity and tremendous length. The Dom in exquisite form.
Varietal cassis aromas are supported by blackberry, mint and forest floor characters on the palate. Maturation for 22 months in a mixture of new and old French and American oak adds structure and layers of complexity.
