Established in 1906 in the Grand Cru village of Aÿ, Champagne Lallier has been honing its craft ever since but under the stewardship of Chef de Cave (and now owner) Francis Tribaut since 2000, it is really now reaching for the stars. Production is up eightfold with quality rising as well – a rare combination. You could say Champagne Lallier is an overnight success a century in the making.
The wines are clean and focused and better than ever. Take the R.014, an NV Champagne with a difference. Lallier’s ‘Série R’ bridges the gap between a classic multi-vintage blend and a single vintage wine. Much like a vintage champagne it tells the story of a season with most of the wine (upwards of 80%) coming from a single year, in this case 2014. Reserve wines balance and give consistency to the final blend.
There is also a Blanc de Blancs that Champagne specialist Tyson Stelzer describes as “Always a highlight of Lallier’s portfolio, [balancing] the expressive depth and intensity of Aÿ with the freshnes of Côte de Blancs.” And finally a simply gorgeous copper/salmon hued rosé that combines fleshy berry Pinot Noir fruit with an elegant chalky minerality and bright acidity. A real ‘show stopper that will wow anyone lucky enough to share it with you.
This is a fresh aperitif style Champagne yet, with a real weight, complexity and depth to it. Green straw in colour, it has a lovely, fine, delicate mousse and a long, persistent and driving finish. Lots of flavour and very crisp, this is serious serious bubbles!

Charming aromas of strawberry and raspberry with hints of spiced citrus. The palate is one of finesse but still well-balanced, with purity in flavour and delicious freshness. A delightful rosé Champagne that could be enjoyed with food or as an aperitif.
