We’re blessed in this country with a climate that makes outdoor living a pleasure. No wonder the great Aussie barbeque is a national institution. Relaxed afternoons with good food and friends are hard to beat, especially when the right wine is on hand to complete the picture. That is where Norfolk Rise comes in. New to the Society this year, it is incredibly well priced – there can be no better value wine range in Australia right now – and perfectly suited to laidback alfresco dining, from picnics to barbeques.
The Pinot Grigio is fresh, lively and perfectly suited to salads and cold seafood dishes. An extra bit of richness in the Chardonnay makes it a great partner for seafood and poultry, fresh from the barbeque. Lighter bodied reds such as Pinot Noir are really versatile wines if you are serving a range of food options. Poached salmon, pâtés, grilled veggies: the Norfolk Rise Pinot Noir will take them all in its stride, while the Cabernet Sauvignon is just crying out for barbeque staples such as lamb chops, steak and sausages.
Aromatic blackberry and cassis with hints bramble spice and dark chocolate. On the palate, ripe berry fruit combines with integrated creamy oak and solft vanilla tannins that lead to a lovely long finish.
