In 1980, horticulturalist Amos William Howard discovered a subterranean clover growing naturally in the Adelaide Hills. The small plant restores nitrogen and ensures the health of the soils making it a fine site to grow vines, and is where the Howard Vineyard site stands. Family owned and operated, Howard Vineyard produces estate-grown, elegant cool-climate wines that are renowned for their delicate notes and distinctive fruit purity. The vineyard is also known for being one of the premier sites in the Adelaide Hills for Sauvignon Blanc, which is why Howard Vineyards was chosen to craft your Best in Society Spring White.
Growing up working in Howard Vineyards winery, Tom Northcott fell in love with wine, which led him to study a degree in viticulture and oenology. He sought to refine his craft by experiencing vintages in the South of France and other Australian regions, including the Barossa, Western Australia and Tasmania. In 2013 Tom returned to Howard Vineyard to take on the role of executive winemaker. Tom’s approach to winemaking is to pick the fruit at the optimal ripeness for lean, elegant flavours that capture the quality and true expression of the vineyard and, in turn, the Adelaide Hills region.
